Software Project Technical Writer

Dematic has an immediate need for a Software Technical Writer in our Technical Communications and Training group. The candidate will work to create software help systems, training materials, and related documentation for external customers.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements for consideration:

• Exceptionally strong English communication and writing skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail. Strong determination to produce applicable, accurate, and complete technical documentation for a variety of audiences.
• Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and set priorities with minimal direction.
• Willingness to adhere to standards, styles, and templates to ensure common documentation look and feel.
• Ability to understand complicated information and communicate it clearly in writing.
• Ability and willingness to proactively procure data from various sources.
• Ability to logically pursue cause and effect.
• Software aptitude and ability to learn software technologies quickly.
• Ability to document software with common industry tools, such as Adobe RoboHelp, MadCap Flare, or similar.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office products, especially Word.

Additional experience and skills that would beneficial:

• Degree in Technical Communication, related technical field, or equivalent technical writing experience.
• Demonstrated ability in documenting large-scale software systems.
• Demonstrated ability to parse complex content.
• Experience identifying requirements for various audiences and producing technical documentation tailored to their needs.
• Experience working within a Word template.
• Strong graphic design skills, with experience creating visual aids, such as infographics and work instruction sheets, a plus.
• Familiarity with material handling systems a plus.

• Create excellent documentation deliverables to support all users within required time frames.
• Be a dedicated student. Continuously learn about Dematic solutions and become self-sufficient in updating and creating documentation to support it.
• Establish a strong feedback loop with subject matter experts and internal audiences to continuously improve deliverables.

Education:
Typically, BS/BA in related discipline.

Knowledge and Experience:

Typically, 1–2 years of experience in related field, but recent college graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Key Working Relationships:
Primarily intra-organizational contacts with some external contacts.
